WORCESTER - The big ones draw headlines and become Hollywood blockbusters. But Anthony Amore, best-selling author and director of security at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, said the 1972 heist at the Worcester Art Museum shows that art theft is less lucrative and less glamorous than Hollywood would have you believe.

“These are not what you see in the movies,” Mr. Amore, author of “Stealing Rembrandts: The Untold Stories of Notorious Art Heists,” and chief investigator of the Gardner Museum theft in his role as the museum’s director of security, told attendees Wednesday at the Honorable Daniel F.
